Al-Taj News – Ghost and zombie masks were not merely celebratory costumes for Halloween in France on Saturday, after they appeared amidst protest scenes witnessed in several cities, where horrifying figures mingled with smoke from fires and tear gas, in a scene that seemed like a clip from a horror film.
In one of the most striking images, a person wearing a “Ghostface” mask—the famous character from the horror movie series “Scream”—appeared near burning fires on tram tracks in the city of Bordeaux, coinciding with demonstrations organized by the Yellow Vests movement, labor unions, and students, protesting against the rising cost of living and social inequality.
In Paris, the end of the march turned into clashes between police and groups of masked protesters, after some of them used hammers to tear up pavement stones and hurl them toward security forces, while an incendiary device was thrown toward police, who responded by using tear gas and charging to disperse the crowds.
